Director of Trust Administration

We are currently seeking a Director of Trust Administration to provide strategic leadership and oversight for fiduciary and trust administration operations. This role is ideal for an experienced trust professional who brings strong regulatory knowledge, leadership experience, and the ability to manage complex client relationships while supporting the continued growth of a wealth and trust platform.

Summary

As a Director of Trust Administration, you will serve as the senior fiduciary leader responsible for trust and estate administration, regulatory oversight, operational governance, and team leadership. This position plays a critical role in ensuring compliance, maintaining strong client relationships, supporting business growth, and developing scalable processes that align with organizational objectives and fiduciary standards.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Lead trust and estate administration activities across complex fiduciary relationships
  • Oversee compliance, audit preparation, and risk management initiatives
  • Develop policies, procedures, and operational best practices
  • Lead and mentor trust administration team members
  • Support client relationship management and business development efforts
  • Collaborate with internal partners, attorneys, CPAs, and regulatory agencies

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary fiduciary authority for trust and estate administration matters
  • Review and approve discretionary distributions, account acceptance decisions, and risk assessments
  • Ensure trust accounts are administered in accordance with governing documents, fiduciary standards, and client objectives
  • Act as a senior resource for complex fiduciary matters and sensitive client situations
  • Lead regulatory examinations and serve as a primary contact for auditors and regulators
  • Partner with compliance, risk, and internal audit teams to maintain a strong control environment
  • Oversee fiduciary account reviews and ongoing risk assessment processes
  • Maintain and enhance trust policies, procedures, and operational workflows
  • Chair trust administration committees and support governance initiatives
  • Lead, develop, and mentor trust officers and support staff
  • Support revenue growth, profitability, and referral development within the trust and wealth division
  • Represent the organization within the community and professional networks to support relationship development

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or related field required
  • 10+ years of experience in trust administration, estate administration, or fiduciary services required
  • Strong knowledge of fiduciary principles, trust administration, and applicable regulatory requirements
  • Proven leadership experience managing teams and operational processes
  • Strong analytical, decision-making, and risk management abilities
  • Excellent communication and relationship management skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with clients, attorneys, CPAs, regulators, and internal teams
  • CTFA, CFP, CPA, or similar professional designation preferred
  • Advanced degree such as MBA, JD, or LLM preferred
