We are currently seeking an Accountant for a permanent position in the Johnson County area of Kansas City. Summary

As an Accountant, you’ll be responsible for a range of accounting functions, including reconciliations, journal entries, general ledger maintenance, and reporting. You’ll also support financial reviews and assist with monthly close, investments, and special projects that help drive organizational efficiency.

What You Will Be Doing

• Reconcile bank statements and general ledger accounts
• Prepare and post journal entries
• Support month-end close and financial reporting
• Assist with project accounting and budget tracking
• Conduct ad hoc analyses and support audit preparation
• Help maintain cash management and investment records
• Prepare financial summaries and reports for management
• Assist in managing purchase card and special assessment programs
• Support interdepartmental financial coordination and customer service

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure accuracy and compliance in accounting data and financial reports
• Maintain accurate records for capital projects, bond schedules, and special assessments
• Monitor outstanding receivables, special assessments, and financial contracts
• Serve as a point of contact for financial inquiries from internal departments
• Provide cross-training and backup support to accounting team members

Qualifications & Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• 1–3 years of experience in general accounting
• Proficiency in spreadsheet software (Excel/Google Sheets) and accounting systems
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Analytical thinker with high attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and collaborate within a team
• Knowledge of fund accounting preferred
