Summary
As the Controller for our client, you will be responsible for overseeing all accounting functions, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and maintaining compliance with GAAP across multiple companies. You will collaborate with operators from various entities and provide timely financial insights to assist in strategic decision-making. This role also involves presenting financial information to the advisory board and assisting with M&A activities. The position offers a dynamic environment where you will manage accounting operations and lead a high-performing team.
What You Will Be Doing
- Financial Leadership:

- Oversee the consolidation of financial data for accurate accounting of consolidated business results.
- Perform general ledger accounting, period closings, and related financial reporting duties.
- Manage day-to-day activities, including accounts payable, cash disbursements, invoicing, customer credits, collections, and inventory integrity.
- Prepare and review financial reports, ensuring compliance with GAAP and timely submission to stakeholders.

- Recruit, train, and manage accounting staff, ensuring high performance and adherence to company policies.
- Provide coaching, counseling, and performance management to the accounting team.

- Compliance and Risk Management:

- Ensure the company complies with local, state, and federal regulations, including tax filings and reporting requirements.
- Maintain the integrity of accounting controls, systems, and records in accordance with GAAP.
- Manage external audits and reviews, ensuring accurate and timely completion.
- Strategic Planning:
- Collaborate on budgeting and forecasting, providing financial analyses to support business goals.
- Assist in the due diligence process during M&A activities and provide financial insights to inform decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee accounting operations and ensure compliance and accuracy in financial reporting.
- Manage monthly and annual closing processes, preparing financial reports for internal and external use.
- Ensure adherence to GAAP and manage risk through the implementation of strong internal controls.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment.
- Provide strategic financial insights to the advisory board and assist with M&A projects as needed.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field required; Master’s degree or CPA is preferred.
- A minimum of 5 to 10 years of experience in accounting, with strong knowledge of general ledger accounting and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in accounting software (NetSuite, QuickBooks) and Microsoft Office Suite (particularly Excel). Deep understanding of GAAP and regulatory compliance.
- Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills, excellent communication, and the ability to lead and mentor a team.
