Summary

As a Sales & Use Tax Accountant for our client, you will be responsible for managing the multijurisdictional filing of sales and use tax returns, coordinating with third parties, and ensuring compliance across various jurisdictions. This role also involves preparing journal entries, reconciling tax accounts, and providing audit support. The position offers a hybrid work schedule, allowing you to balance in-office collaboration with remote work flexibility.

What You Will Be Doing

  • File all sales and use tax returns in multiple states and work with outside vendor partnerships.
  • Prepare sales and use tax-related journal entries and reconcile all sales and use tax accounts on a periodic basis.
  • Review company credit card expenses and purchase orders to ensure correct taxability across various jurisdictions, maintaining accurate tax rate codes in multiple systems.
  • Provide facilitation and support during tax audits, ensuring compliance and readiness.
  • Conduct research on transactional tax issues and provide education and support to the department regarding sales and use taxes.
  • Maintain sales and use tax licenses for multiple jurisdictions, ensuring compliance with local regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the multijurisdictional filing and compliance of sales and use tax returns.
  • Reconcile sales and use tax accounts and ensure accurate journal entries are made.
  • Review and approve purchase orders and credit card expenses for correct taxability.
  • Maintain up-to-date tax rate codes and licenses in multiple systems.
  • Provide audit support and research transactional tax issues as needed.
  • Educate and support the department on tax-related matters.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in multijurisdictional sales and use tax.
  • A college degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred (Associate or Bachelor).
  • Strong attention to detail, technical computer skills with intermediate to advanced Excel proficiency, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
