Senior Credit Analyst

We are currently recruiting for a Senior Credit Analyst position for a client in the banking industry based in the Kansas City Metro Area. Summary

As a Senior Credit Analyst, you will play a critical role in reviewing the creditworthiness of individuals and businesses, focusing on complex and sophisticated transactions. You will be responsible for preparing detailed underwriting analyses, assessing financial performance, and identifying key risks. This position will also involve mentoring junior credit analysts and supporting the training and development within the team. The role is 100% in-office, providing a collaborative environment with direct interaction with the Commercial Credit Manager and loan officers.

What You Will Be Doing

• Prepare comprehensive underwriting analyses for new loan requests, renewals, and modifications, focusing on complex commercial customers, particularly with C&I and real estate loans.
• Conduct detailed financial analysis at both the borrower and global guarantor levels, identifying key risks and mitigating factors.
• Write objective narratives on the creditworthiness of loan proposals, ensuring a deep understanding of the associated risks.
• Work closely with loan officers to provide timely updates, deliver final loan presentations, and assist with tracking financial reporting and monitoring requirements.
• Mentor and support the development of junior credit analysts, sharing your expertise and guiding them through complex underwriting processes.
• Stay current with industry trends and best practices by attending relevant seminars, conferences, and workshops, and participate in leadership roles within professional and community organizations.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the underwriting of complex commercial loans, thorough analysis and documentation.
• Collaborate with loan officers and internal teams to ensure smooth processing and approval of loan requests.
• Mentor junior analysts, providing guidance and support in their professional development.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, regulations, and best practices in commercial credit underwriting.
• Communicate effectively with all stakeholders, ensuring transparency and clarity throughout the loan approval process.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Economics, or Finance.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in commercial credit underwriting, with a focus on C&I and real estate loans.
• Strong knowledge of bank policies, procedures, and regulations, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• In-depth understanding of commercial banking, particularly in underwriting and loan review for complex transactions.
