Supporting a Growing Fintech Organization Through Strategic Leadership Hiring and Organizational Expansion

The Situation

A long-standing client reached out to M&B Search after they had stepped into a CEO role at a growing fintech organization. The company was in the early stages of its growth journey, operating with a lean team and focused on establishing the type of culture and leadership foundation they knew would be critical to long-term success in a highly competitive fintech market.

At this stage, the organization was actively building out its technology services and lending platforms. While growth opportunities were clear, leadership understood that scaling responsibly would require putting the right people in place early, particularly in areas tied to compliance, operations, and financial oversight. Rather than reacting to hiring needs as they arose, the CEO wanted a recruiting partner who could support both immediate priorities and future growth.

Our Approach

M&B Search Group partnered closely with the CEO to gain a deep understanding of the company’s vision, culture, and expansion plans. Early conversations focused not only on current hiring needs, but also on anticipating how the organization would evolve as its platform, client base, and regulatory responsibilities expanded.

The initial priority was strengthening compliance leadership. As the company reached a new phase of growth, we placed a BSA Officer to ensure regulatory requirements were met while allowing leadership to stay focused on product development and market expansion.

As momentum continued, hiring needs broadened beyond compliance. We supported the organization in hiring a Loan Officer to expand lending capabilities, followed by key additions to the accounting team to support internal financial operations. As transaction volume and client demand increased, we also recruited and placed a Lead for the Loan Operations department to help formalize workflows, improve efficiency, and support the growing client base.

Throughout each phase, our team remained closely engaged with leadership, adapting the recruiting strategy as priorities shifted and ensuring each hire aligned with the company’s evolving structure and culture.

The Results

Over a relatively short period of time, the organization grew from a team of six employees to more than forty. This rapid growth was accompanied by a move into new office space and the intentional development of a collaborative culture that attracts talent while still allowing for flexibility as the organization scales.

Most recently, M&B Search Group supported the company in hiring a Credit Analyst Lead to help establish additional processes within the credit function and lay the groundwork for building a future team. By providing consistent recruiting support across multiple departments and stages of growth, M&B Search Group helped the organization scale thoughtfully while maintaining alignment with leadership’s long-term vision.
